The error Microsoft Excel stopped working happens when we execute any action, be it saving the workbook, opening it or doing any other action but that message that is truly worrisome when we are doing some work and this error appears.
This is an error that can happen in Excel for various reasons, which may be failure to install an update, a program that is taking effect in Microsoft Excel or another open thread of the program.
Steps for possible solution
Solution number 1:
Go to control panel > Programs and features > Select Microsoft Office > Click on change and then click on continue.
Here the Microsoft Office program will do a complete repair of the program.
Solution number 2:
Open the Windows console or press Windows Key + R and type the following command.
Type the following command without the quotes "Excel.exe / Safe" and press the Enter key, then go to Files > Options > Add-ins, in the part that says manage select COM Add-ins and click on go, then you have to disable all the boxes that are active.
What this step will do is start Excel in safe mode and remove the faulty add-ins.
Solution number 3:
Keep the operating system updated, sometimes the updates correct certain errors that the operating system brings, along with these updates comes data packages to complement the compatibility and security of Microsoft Office.

Check if Microsoft Excel is being used by another program, for this we are going to go to the task manager to find out which processes are active.
